Dr. Clifford Thomas

| Dr. Thomas, Executive Vice President of the United States Head of Family
Martial Arts Association, began studying and training in martial arts in
1964 and has black belts in five different martial arts styles. He was
honored as one of the very few non-Asian Americans to receive rank under
General Chai of Korea and also one of the few non-Asian Americans to receive
rank from the World Korean Martial Arts Union.

A Professor of Martial Arts, Dr. Thomas has four doctorates (Martial Arts Education, Martial Arts Science, Martial Arts Medicine, and Philosophy and Martial Arts Sciences). In addition to the United States Head of Family Martial Arts Association, he serves on the Grand Masters Council and as a member of several boards of directors of Halls of Fame worldwide (including the International Council of Higher Martial Arts Education). Dr. Thomas is Founder and CEO of Saving the Children and Who’s Saving Them International, and President and CEO of the Tae Kwon Do Ramblers Self-Defense Systems: We Lead by Example. Dr. Thomas has led by example for many years, as noted by George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush in 2001 when he was given the Presidential Award for his community activism and services on behalf of children in Washington, DC. The same year, he received the Unsung Hero Award from the City of Washington, DC. In 1997, President William Jefferson Clinton named him Presidential Award Volunteer of the Year. In 1989, Dr. Thomas was the head coach of Amateur Athletic Union Potomac Valley Team, which was the first to win the Olympic competition in martial arts for the Potomac Valley region. He has been featured in Action Magazine, and in several newspapers, including The Washington Post, The Washington Times, East of the River, and The Port Towns Gazette. He founded the Brotherhood of Martial Artist Association in 1992. A few of his other awards include Action Magazine Blackbelt Hall of Fame, Promoter Plus Referee of the Year, International Black Belt Hall of Fame Instructor of the Year, Promoters Plus Living Legends, the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame Diamond Life Achievement, the International Black Belt Hall of Fame Pinnacle, World Christian Martial Arts and Pastoral Hall of Fame Diamond Life Achievement, International Blackbelt Hall of Fame Diamond Crystal Award of Spirit; Distinguished Soke Award from the World Martial Arts League (Frankfurt, Germany); Elite Man of the Year and International School of the Year, Hall of Honor, Hall of Champions, United States Head of Family Martial Arts Association; City Council of Camden, New Jersey, certificate of appreciation for longstanding service and dedication to martial arts and to the El Karate Martial Arts Program. Dr. Thomas has an Associate’s Degree in Environmental Research and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Design. He is the owner and CEO of Thomas Environmental.
